Android 8.1 Oreo Update Arrives To The OnePlus 5 & 5T

The gestures are akin to the iPhone X's, though they are not available for the OnePlus 5.

OnePlus has started sending out OxygenOS 5.1.0 for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. Your best bet is to keep checking each morning to see if your phone has made the cut.

The face of Oreo Update in Android smartphones has begun to a full stretch. We already covered the Razer Phone's 8.1 rollout yesterday and now, the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T are joining the list, bringing along OS improvements, security improvements and a new "gaming mode".

In winding up, the latest Oreo also brings Gaming Mode update with power saving and pausing adaptive brightness features.

Starting today, the Android Oreo 8.1 update will be rolling out to OnePlus 5 and 5T owners.

The updates come with new features and bug fixes as well.

Chinese smartphone brand OnePlus rolled out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for OnePlus 5 last year in December, and then in late January this year, the company rolled out the 8.0 Oreo update for OnePlus 5T as well. Just tap on System updates, and the phone will check if the update is available for your phone.

Specifications wise, the OnePlus 5 features a 5.5-inch FHD display, Snapdragon 835 processor, Adreno 540 graphics, 6GB/8GB RAM, 64GB/128GB storage, 16MP+20MP rear camera, 16MP front-facing camera powered by a 3300mAh battery.

One major change is to the Gaming mode on OnePlus 5 and 5T. There is also an added network boost which adds priority for the gaming app in the foreground.

To get the gestures working on your OnePlus 5/5T simply update to the latest OTA update. As far as the OnePlus Launcher is concerned, the company has added category tags in the search section of the app drawer, and the launcher will also auto-name folders based on category now.
