1st game of Yankees-Tigers doubleheader postponed by rain

The Detroit Tigers were scheduled to play the first pitch of their game against the New York Yankees at 1:10 p.m. ET. All tickets from Saturday's contest that was rained out will be valid on Sunday night, while tickets from Sunday's cancellation can be used on the to-be-determined make-up date. They have had less-than-ideal playing conditions for the majority of their games to start the 2018 campaign, and Detroit is not alone. When they take the field on Tuesday, they will have had three full days off, a rarity in baseball's regular season.

The teams had originally moved Saturday's rained-out contest to Sunday night as part of a split doubleheader, but rain has continued to hit the Detroit area. No ticket exchange is necessary.

The mixture of cold, ice, hail and snow ripping through MI postponed baseball games for the Lansing Lugnuts and the Detroit Tigers on Saturday.

Francisco Liriano is scheduled to start game one while Matthew Boyd is scheduled to start game two for the Tigers.

Tomorrow, the Lugnuts will host the Whitecaps for a doubleheader with first pitch at 1:05 p.m. Rain-outs on March 29 and March 31 against the Pittsburgh Pirates have already been made up. And the team's sixth game of the season, on April 4 against the Royals, also was postponed.
