XIAOMI to launch four new smart phones on Jumia

Xiaomi Redmi 5 was first launched in China a year ago, along with the Redmi 5 Plus. Today's launch event will be livestreamed on the official Xiaomi India website and also on the company's YouTube channel.

The company has released MIUI 9 Global ROM to Mi Mix 2 (global version), Mi Note 3, Mi MIX, Mi 6, Mi Note 2, Mi Note Pro Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5c Mi 5s Plus, Mi Max 2, Mi Max, Redmi 4/4X, Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, Mi 3, Mi 4, Redmi Note 3 (Qualcomm chipset variant), Redmi Note 3 Special Edition, Redmi Note 4 (MediaTek chipset model), Mi 4i, Mi 4c, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note Prime, Mi 2, 2S, Mi Note, Redmi 3, 3 Prime, Redmi 3S, 3S Prime and Redmi 4A.

We have already come across a teaser page posted on Amazon India tipping that the Redmi 5 will be exclusive to the online retailer. This device comes in three variants - 2GB RAM and 16GB storage space and 3GB/4GB RAM with 32GB storage space. It has 32GB/64GB of storage which is expandable through a MicroSD card in a hybrid dual-SIM configuration where second SIM slot doubles as a MicroSD card holder.

Xiaomi is launching a new smartphone in India today, which is likely the Redmi 5. The Redmi Note 5 is priced at Rs 9,999 for 3GB+32GB version, and Rs 11,999 for 4GB+64GB version.

Redmi 5 features a 5.7-inch HD display.

Redmi Note 5 Pro is available in four colour options including Black, Gold, Rose Gold, and Lake Blue.

In terms of hardware specifications, Redmi 5 is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 450 SoC based on a 14nm FinFET technology and coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. The Redmi 5 runs on MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1 Nougat. The battery capacity of the phone is 3300mAh which promises to deliver up to 12 days of standby time.

The Redmi 5a Prime boasts of a 16MP front camera, with 2.0 aperture in front, as well as a flash light, while the primary camera for both phones on the rear, packs a 13-megapixel camera. The device is expected to hit the India shores with nearly the same specifications.
