Varun Was The Last Person To Be Cast In October

This change in heart came after the director saw his son Varun Dhawan's work in Shoojit Sircar's October.

He said, "I think it's true". His act has impressed everyone but did you know Varun was the last one to be part of the film. When he narrated the film to me and told me why he wants to make the film, I was so moved. "I need the film more than anyone else in the room at this point of time in my career", Dhawan said at the film's trailer launch on Monday. An intense love story picturised by fabulous cinematography set against a winter backdrop, the film looks to bring typical Bollywood romance flavours. "When I sign a film, I look at the script more than anything, and how much the maker is putting in the film". Dhawan agreed with SRK that creative part of the film should be focused.

Says the prolific director, "If Varun can fall so comfortably into my formula in Judwaa 2, I can just as easily move away from the formula to create something completely unexpected with Varun".

Besides being an emotional journey for him, the film turned out to be a learning experience for Varun.

He added, "I asked him, will you surrender yourself and are you honest?" I said, "As usual, I check my phone, I post things on social media". "It was a very different experience", Varun said.

The film is slated to hit the screens on April 13.
