US Secretary Of State To Visit Nigeria Tommorow

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson cancelled scheduled events on Saturday on the second day of a visit to Kenya because he had been feeling unwell, a State Department spokesman said, adding that he would resume his programme on Sunday.

"Due to demands in the secretary's schedule he is returning to the U.S. one day early, after concluding official meetings in Chad and Nigeria", Undersecretary of State Steve Goldstein told the press.

Tillerson was expected to land in Abuja on Monday in what would have beeen his first official visit to the country. Spokespeople for the members of the coalition National Super Alliance labeled Odinga as a traitor and deplored his decision to reach an agreement with Kenyatta, claiming that this decision will lead the country to a despotic monarchy by both.

Mr Tillerson was to hold an interactive meeting with Health CS Sicily Kariuki at the Pumwani Maternity Hospital on Saturday at 9am but the event did not take place.

Tillerson was to travel to Chad and Nigeria on Monday after leaving Kenya as scheduled but he is said to have scrapped plans to spend the night in Nigeria.

The US Embassy further said Tillerson will meet with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday morning, at the Presidential Villa.

But the African tour has coincided with the shock announcement of a possible summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and US President Donald Trump over the nuclear standoff in the Korean peninsula.

Tillerson's schedule for Saturday also included a site visit to PEPFAR, a United States program that works to fight AIDS in the continent.
