Mauricio Pochettino's side was dumped out of the Champions League on Tuesday with a 2-1 defeat to Juventus and he had decided to make a number of changes for the trip to the Cherries.

Fans were delighted with the way their side fought back and took all three points as they continued their efforts for a place in next year's competition, however, some took to social media to criticise the performance of one individual.

Chiellini claimed that Tottenham have a history of mental weakness in important games: "It's the history of Tottenham".

Vertonghen, however, used Barcelona as an example of how a side can enjoy success while still playing in a positive manner.

"We could have played with five or six at the back, but that is not how we are. We believe in the history".

England global Dier sustained an elbow injury in the midweek Champions League clash with Juventus and faces a late assessment. The supporters are a huge part of when we play here because they are so close to the pitch.

That undefeated record over the same period has only been bettered by Spurs, who are unbeaten in their last 11.

The measure of Spurs' progression has not only been highlighted by their recent showings in the Champions League, as domestic victories over Manchester United and Arsenal have both offered signs of a Tottenham side growing all the time. They are obviously a great team, but not the style that we want to play.

While out of Europe, Tottenham are through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and are fighting to finish in the top four of the Premier League for a third successive season.
