Trump Rips Mueller Investigation. He's Right

And given Trump's lawyer calling for the Mueller probe to end, Jake Tapper asked Graham if he's still concerned about the probe being shut down before it concludes. Obama EPA chief: Reg rollback won't stand MORE fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabeAndrew George McCabeDopey Russian ads didn't swing voters - federal coverups did Federal abuses on Obama's watch represent a growing blight on his legacy In the case of the FISA memos, transparency is national security MORE. Chuck Schumer of NY condemned Trump's suggestion that Mueller's investigation be shut down.

Trump, meanwhile, posted a series of tweets on McCabe, Comey, and Mueller Saturday evening and Sunday morning. "Keep in mind, Chris, he didn't volunteer for this", Gowdy said addressing host Chris Wallace.

Republican U.S. Representative Trey Gowdy criticized Dowd in an interview with "Fox News Sunday".

"We ought to pass those bills now", Durbin said.

Rubio, who supports the special counsel probe, said the decision to fire McCabe was made before the release of the Justice Department inspector general's report that Attorney General Jeff Sessions cited in his dismissal.

It was also reported that McCabe, who was two days away from retirement when he was sacked, had kept memos of his interactions with the President.

The contents of Mr McCabe's memos are unknown, but they could help substantiate his assertion that he was unfairly maligned by a White House he says declared "war" on the FBI and Mr Mueller's investigation.

"Spent very little time with Andrew McCabe, but he never took notes when he was with me", Mr Trump tweeted on Sunday.

Incidentally, one of the things Trump blamed McCabe for was letting James Comey fly back from LA to Washington on an Federal Bureau of Investigation plane *after* Trump had fired him while he was in the field. Axios reports the McCabe memos corroborate Comey's account of his own firing. But if Dowd's memo to CNN was a trial balloon for the firing of Mueller, we could pass beyond the realm of the petty to a huge societal explosion. "And they can judge for themselves who is honorable and who is not".

Mr Sessions said he dismissed Mr McCabe on the recommendation of FBI disciplinary officials who said Mr McCabe was not candid with a watchdog office investigation.

Also over the weekend, Mr Trump's personal lawyer, John Dowd, cited the "brilliant and courageous example" by Sessions and the FBI's Office of Professional Responsibility and said Mr Rosenstein should "bring an end" to the Russian Federation investigation "manufactured" by Mr Comey.

"If the allegation is collusion with the Russians, and there is no evidence of that, and you're innocent of that, act like it", Gowdy said.

He was appointed by Special Counsel by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who was himself put in place by Trump.

"I would just counsel the president".

Mr Mueller is investigating whether Mr Trump's actions, including Mr Comey's ouster, constitute obstruction of justice.
