Toyota RAV4 Casts A Teaser Shadow Over New York Auto Show

One of them this year will be the all-new 2019 Toyota RAV4.

Following a recent wave of model refreshes from Toyota, the Japanese company is now getting ready to unveil the all-new, 2019 Toyota RAV4 later this month at the NY auto show. And as (recent) custom would have it, the Japanese automaker released a first teaser image today that provides a profile view of the new edition's silhouette and is sure to boost interest even higher ahead of the official unveiling.

It is assumed that the exterior design of the compact SUV Toyota RAV4 fifth generation will be executed in stylistics of the concept Toyota FT-AC, the world debut of which was held last fall at the motor show in Los Angeles-2017. An 8-speed transmission is also likely to replace the current model's 6-speed, and improved fuel economy is also expected.

In 2017, the RAV4 sold more than 400,000 units, marking its best sales year ever despite its relatively advanced age (the current-generation RAV4 launched in 2013, a long time ago in vehicle years). Toyota is yet to confirm the new Corolla hatch for the United States (the current model is sold here as a Corolla iM) but we'll definitely be seeing a new Corolla sedan in the not too distant future. Last month, it sold almost 30,000 of them in the United States alone - well ahead of the 25,000 Corollas it moved over the same period (including both the sedan and the formerly Scion IM hatchback) and far outpacing the ~16,000 each of the Highlander and Tacoma in Toyota's truck-sales rankings.
