'The Flash': Iris Brings Back SPOILER in

We've got enough superheroes, and that's just not who Iris is.

"I always though it'd be cool, just for fans and just for the show, to see her suit up for an episode", Patton said.

Listed in the scripts as "Mystery Girl", fans have been theorizing on the identity of the character and executive producer Todd Helbing commented on the speculation following a press screening for this week's episode of The Flash.

"I mean, there is no school for acting in front of a green screen, not that I'm aware of" she said.

"The latest updates and spoilers for "#The Flash" #Season 4 reveal new details about the mysterious female character in the show portrayed by Jessica Parker Kennedy. Helbing doubts that "anybody ever is going to guess exactly what it is".

Helbing's comments appear to have shut down the most popular theories on the mystery girl. The whole experience with having powers has reignited Iris' passion for writing and journalism and, with the day saved and the West-Allens settling in for a quiet night at home Iris reveals to Barry that she's made a decision to go back to it, resurrecting her old blog "Saved by The Flash". Fans have also wondered if she could be the new female speedster that's been training with Jay Garrick to be the new Flash of Earth-3.

Of course, while she'll have plenty of help as a neophyte speedster, we've seen for three-plus seasons that there's a lot to learn while drawing on the Speed Force.

And while Iris had fun and challenging stint putting on a costume and zipping around Central City at super-speed - even creating a tidal wave, something Barry hadn't yet done - for Patton, it was a bit of a mixed experience being more heavily involved in the visual effects side of The Flash.

Another theory is that the mystery girl is Jenny Ognats, Dawn's daughter, which would make her Barry's granddaughter. He didn't really get much time with Grant Gustin but we do think it was a little nod to their shared history. So far, she has met the members of Team Flash in pairs. All that's left for her to meet is Joe (Jesse L. Martin).

The CW has released a clip from tonight's episode of The Flash season 4, entitled "Run, Iris, Run"; watch it below...
