Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry goes off on officiating after losing to Rockets

Gentry was referring to the foul called on Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday while James Harden was shooting a 3 from the corner in a seven-point game with 5:39 to play in the fourth quarter.

Gentry wasn't the only National Basketball Association head coach who lashed out against officials Saturday night, though. When a guy's got his hand on his chest - and he's got his hand in - and you call a 3-point (foul), that's not correct.

Harden didn't seem to agree with Gentry's assessment of the play after the game. Get the app and get the game. Gentry, who claimed he saw Harden wink after the foul was called, was assessed a technical as he demonstratively walked away from official David Guthrie and sat on the bench. Eric Gordon split a pair of free throws on the Rockets next trip, but Chieck Diallo made a pair to cut the Rockets lead to four, but that was as close as New Orleans could get. Not one. You know why, because he doesn't bitch and complain about it.

The Pelicans coach was outspoken on the court and picked up a technical foul with five minutes remaining in the game after walking away from an official, but he said he walked away so he wouldn't get a technical.

The Rockets are just three wins shy of the matching the franchise record set in 1993-1994, and move to three games ahead of the Golden State Warriors for the NBA's best record.

"(The Blazers) held and grabbed on every play and they got away with fouls all over the place", Van Gundy said, via the Detroit News' Rod Beard. "You can't guess on the fouls", Gentry said.

After Gentry's rant, he reportedly turned to a Pelicans PR person and said, "Well, that's 15 grand".

Gentry's speech lasted almost three minutes and ended with him saying, "I'll take whatever (fine) they want to give me, that's fine".

"We could have been a little cleaner down the stretch", Paul said. "That's fine. But I'm sick of it", Gentry said.

"All we want is an equal opportunity to win the game!"

Ryan Anderson returned to the floor after missing the last nine games with a hip injury. On the other hand, Clark wasn't too shabby either, scoring 17 points to go along with two rebounds, and three assists. "I'm going out there and having a lot of fun and just playing the right way".
