OnePlus 5/5T to get Android 8.1 update soon

OnePlus has announced the Android 8.1 Oreo support via the OxygenOS Open Beta 6 for OnePlus 5 users with additional new features and bug fixes.

Of course, the biggest change with this beta is the fact that you're getting updated to Android 8.1 Oreo, but there are also some other changes afoot here.

The full-screen gesture support first appeared in the previous Open Beta build for the OP5T, which landed at the end of January. Instructions have also been provided, in case you are new to this beta programme.

In addition to this major change, OnePlus has also added few minor changes.

What can the users expect from the update? OnePlus hasn't said how many betas there will be before the stable version rolls out, but where this is the sixth beta, it should be rolling out pretty soon.

New optimisations have been added in the gaming mode as well for immersive gaming. This includes notification blocking, power saving and turning off adaptive brightness. There's also a new "global roaming solution", however OnePlus has not detailed what this solution might be.

The new Beta update for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5t includes February security patch and the brand new version of OnePlus Switch app which enable users to switch between devices much quicker.
