Nokia 9 may sport in-display fingerprint sensor, iPhone-like notch

The Finnish company is now said to be working on two high-end smartphones; the Nokia 9 and Nokia 8 Pro.

The report claims that it has come from a reliable source and Nokia will launch the smartphone in the coming months.

Notch is a trend started by Apple's iPhone X and now reports indicate Apple ditching this trend altogether on its future phones because of buyer's feedback about the notch.

We last reported about confirmation of our exclusive about Nokia 9 2018 via trusted sources in China.

Apparently, the Nokia 8 Pro will be the upgraded version of the Nokia 8 Sirocco.

Display wise, the Nokia 8 Pro can house a 6.01-inch display which will offer a support for an aspect ratio of 18:9 alongside a Full HD+ resolution.

If this information is to be believed, HMD Global could be joining Vivo in being the first smartphone manufacturers to incorporate this technology into their products. However, the main highlight of the phone could be its Penta-lens camera setup. That said, the device is expected to drop later this year, competing with the likes of Samsung's S9 and other flagship devices. The primary sensor will be of 12-megapixel, while the secondary sensor will be of 13-megapixel.

Talking about the cameras, the smartphone will likely be equipped with a dual rear camera setup comprising of two 16MP sensors. For the front, there would be a 5-megapixel selfie camera.

This would also throw the under-display fingerprint scanner onto shaky ground.

Earlier, Nokia 9 was spotted at the launch of the Nokia 8 for the Indonesian market held in Jakarta. In terms of specs, Nokia 8 Sirocco runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, coupled with a 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

Were seeing a number of reports in recent weeks of upcoming smartphones expected to feature a notch that it is no longer surprising.
