National Basketball Association power rankings week 22: Rockets are still No. 1

In a playoff atmosphere, the Toronto Raptors overcame a furious comeback by the Houston Rockets, to escape with a home 108-105 win on Friday night, ending the Rockets' 17-game winning streak.

DeMar DeRozan and the Raptors just beat the Rockets, but the star guard knows who his MVP would be anyway. "We take that disrespect", DeRozan says, "and carry it into games".

Houston shot one for nine from three-point range in the first half.

The Raptors are simply the hottest team in the league at the moment and they need to keep winning to hold off the Eastern Conference, so it's hard to imagine they'll have too much trouble getting past this struggling Nets team who have nothing to play for. "We didn't have a whole lot of them, but we didn't make them".

DeRozan said he thinks Harden should have won MVP past year.

Toronto improved to 28-5 at home, the best record in the National Basketball Association.

The third seed and the 10th seed in the west are only separated by 3.5 games.

DeRozan hit 39 percent of his 3-pointers in December, and while he's still adapting to making that a part of his game - he's attempting a career-high 3.6 threes per game, which has added a brand new dimension to his already-dangerous perimeter game.

Harden got the final shot but his deep three from the edge of the centre court circle went short.

The Raptors had reinvented their offense but they needed something more from DeRozan.
