Mizzou women's basketball hits the road for NCAA tourney

The Tigers earned an at-large bid to the tournament. So should the Tigers beat Florida State in the first round, Barnett would be available for Sunday's second round game - a matchup that would likely pit them against No. 1 seed Xavier.

Florida State had an overall record of 20-11, going 9-9 in ACC play.

But first things first and that is the Tigers first round matchup against the Seminoles of Florida State.

20-12 overall and 10-8 in the SEC. At one point they were ranked as high as 19th in the country, but finished the season out of the top 25.

Wins over Clemson, North Carolina and Florida impressed the Selection Committee, though, so the Noles are in the field of 68. I'm not sure how we'll start lineups.

This long bench will be a major test for Mizzou who will at best only have eight players dressed if senior Jordan Barnett is suspended as expected.

Missouri, No. 17 in the latest Associated Press poll and No. 24 in the most recent Ratings Percentage Index standings, lost two of their final three games, both by double digits to NCAA Tournament teams, Texas A&M and Georgia.

Third-seeded Michigan roared to the Big Ten Tournament title with victories over Michigan State and Purdue and has to be considered one of the risky teams in the field. We've managed to get to this point.

With Barnett's suspension, Missouri is now down to only seven scholarship players. So Tiger fans, put on your dancing shoes and get ready for Friday.

The Missouri women's basketball team is headed back to the NCAA Tournament for a third straight season but fell short of the goal it chased all season and won't host the opening rounds of the tournament.
