McLaren's new hypercar to be its fastest-ever

McLaren's new hypercar to be its fastest-ever

The "Hyper-GT" will exceed the 243mph top speed of McLaren's previous record holder and its first road vehicle, the iconic McLaren F1.The marker was set on a German test track by British Le Mans 24 Hours victor in 1998.

The McLaren F1 has been the British manufacturer's fastest auto with a 243mph top speed since its introduction in 1992 - but now, 26 years later, that looks set to change.

The BP23 is also being pitched as the most luxurious McLaren yet made.

BP23 will carry an as-yet unannounced name, rather than the alphanumerical nomenclatures used by the McLaren Sports Series and Super Series; this name, together with the maximum possible speed, will be disclosed nearer to the car's reveal.

Just like the F1 the BP23 will feature a 1+2 seating arrangement with a central driving position, but its powertrain will be a more modern interpretation with a petrol-electric set-up like top-shelf rivals like the AMG Project One and Porsche 918. Each will be personalised to their customer by McLaren Special Operations, and production of the cars will begin at the end of 2019. You're too late. McLaren will be hosting a private showing of the auto to just 106 people - of the 106, all are customers who have already purchased the vehicle for £1.6 million or AU$2.8 million. Nevertheless, 106 examples will be built and all of them are already sold-out.
