Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's production company to add 'inclusion riders'

"On behalf of Pearl Street Films, Matt Damon, Ben Afflect, Jennifer Todd, Drew Vinton & I will be adopting the #InclusionRider for all of our projects moving forward".

An "inclusion rider" is a clause that an actor can insist be inserted in the contract; it requires the cast and crew on a film to meet a certain level of diversity.

Fanshen Cox DiGiovanni made the announcement on Monday night via Twitter at the South by Southwest Film Festival.

Frances McDormand really set Hollywood's talking point for the next year when she ended her best actress acceptance speech at this year's Oscars with these two words: "inclusion rider".

Filmmaker duo/best buds forever Ben Affleck and Matt Damon today announced they'd be adopting inclusion riders for all their future production deals, off the back of Frances McDormand's Oscar speech bringing the concept into the mainstream. Following McDormand's call to action, Michael B. Jordan got the trend going in earnest, formally announcing that he will be using inclusion riders for all forthcoming projects he produces.

No word on whether Affleck and Damon are also applying an inclusion rider to every acting project, or only their production company.

"For those of you asking about the #InclusionRider, it's created to ensure equitable hiring in supportive roles for women, POC, the LGBT community, & people w/disabilities", the tweet said.

In her tweet, Cox DiGiovanni thanked Jordan "for always supporting broader representation in the industry". Specifics of the rider are also undisclosed at this time.
