Margot Robbie in talks for Tarantino's Once Upon A Time in Hollywood

Margot Robbie has been tipped to play Sharon Tate in the upcoming Quentin Tarantino movie about Hollywood's Manson murders.

Tarantino's film has come under fire from Tate's sister Debra, who has accused the director of exploiting the tragic star and the 50th anniversary of her death next year. The Australian beauty had always been rumored being eyed for the said role in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", and now Deadline reports that talks are underway to make it happen.

The movie takes place in Los Angeles in 1969 at the height of hippy Hollywood. Dalton is joined by his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth, played by Brad Pitt.

Robbie would be joining Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt in the film, titled Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

"I've been working on this script for five years, as well as living in Los Angeles County most of my life, including in 1969, when I was seven years old", he said.

The film is due to start production later this year, with a release date of August 9 2019 earmarked. Deadline reported the news on Tuesday following a previous report that Robbie and Tarantino had a conversation about her playing the late actress back in July. Tate was murdered by the Manson family in 1969.

DiCaprio's character just happens to live next door to actress Tate.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will be Tarantino's first movie for Sony Pictures since the end of his relationship with The Weinstein Company in 2017.

"Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don't recognise anymore".
