Houston Texans making 'strong run' at New England Patriots tackle, per report

The Browns, after aggressively improving the offense on March 9 by trading with the Bills for quarterback Tyrod Taylor and with the Dolphins for wide receiver Jarvis Landry, definitely do not want to head to the 2018 opener with Spencer Drango as their starting left tackle. A two-time Super Bowl champion, Solder has been responsible for protecting Tom Brady's blindside in New England.

Source says Browns are making a big run at Nate Solder to replace Joe Thomas at left tackle.

Out of respect, the Browns are giving Thomas all the time and space he needs to make his decision. He made the Pro Bowl 10 straight times and played 10,363 consecutive snaps before a triceps injury suffered October 22 in a game against the Titans ended his awesome iron-man streak. He has yet to inform the Browns of his plans this offseason. Giardi also reported that the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans appear to be the frontrunners to sign him. The Browns were $113 million under the salary cap before their recent flurry of transactions.

Teams across the league are using the in-between period to pursue the Patriots' unrestricted free agents. Solder said that he prefers to stay with the Patriots, but the Browns would be able to offer him money that the Patriots simply couldn't offer.

As the top offensive tackle on the free agent market, Nate Solder will undoubtedly sign a lucrative contract within the next week.

It was just a year ago that Cleveland made Kevin Zeitler the highest-paid guard in National Football League history.

"For us as an organization, we're going to do everything we can to be prepared whether he plays or he doesn't play and I think that's what our responsibility is".
