Google Maps has found a better way to navigate India's chaotic roads

The features are mostly aimed at easing the efforts of the users when it comes to searching and sharing addresses. With "Add an Address' feature, Google is aiming to bring those locations on its map that have been missing till so far".

The Plus Codes system works by dividing the surface of the earth into small tiles or "tile areas" which a unique code assigned to each tile.

Voice navigation in 6 Indian languages. Thankfully, our very own Google has solution to all these problems.

Please do note that Google will publish the place only after verification.

Well, I don't know about other features, but I'm looking forward to using the Plus Codes in Google Maps and I hope third-party apps like Ola incorporate this feature soon as it will make it easier for me to navigate the driver to pick-up location in one go.

Open the Google Maps app and head over to a location on the map that you want to use with Google Plus Codes.

"At Google Maps, our objective has always been about organizing all location-related information, and making it more accessible and relevant for Indian users", Ruhela added, saying that it is especially challenging in India. The code comprises of 6 characters along with the city name that can be generated, shared and searched by anyone. Once approved, the uploader would get 15 points through Google's MapMaker initiative that helps encourage user contributions.

"This is an innovative approach to providing the best estimate of the location of an address: when people aren't aware of an exact address, they just don't give up but try to refer other information such as a nearby landmark, business or a locality to get closer to the final destination".

Google Maps now also has voice navigation in six Indian languages including Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Telegu, Tamil and Malayalam.

"Kathmandu, Nepal, has a population of around 1 million people, but most roads have no names and houses have no street numbers. We are deeply committed to helping find solutions to these challenges". Google Maps is undeniably the best mapping, location, and navigation platform that's available in India, and the company has been constantly improving it for the Indian market. The navigation in Hindi was launched three years back.

The new Google Maps Plus Codes are likely to end the annoying calls from the delivery guy, who despite having the address, needs to be given the detailed route-direction to your home.

Suren Ruhela, Director of Google Maps, wrote in his blog: "India continues to inspire us, and pushes us to reimagine what Maps can do for people". India banned the Street View cars almost two years ago owing to security concerns and Google Maps in the country is mostly crowd-sourced.
