Galaxy S9 pre-orders reportedly the same or slightly lower than S8

The South Korean tech giant held an event in New Delhi Tuesday to showcase the newest smartphones and has since accepted pre-orders. This plan of the South Korean giant was revealed by Asim Warsi, Global Vice President of Samsung India.

The world's largest smartphone manufacturer said it has also increased the number of Indian banks that use Samsung Pay, the company's mobile payment system.

You can expect multiple devices being launched over the year across price segments that we operate in. "These smartphones will be available across online and offline channels from time to time".

He added that the company is focusing on multi-dimensional strategies to counter the growing competition, especially from the Chinese players. According to an unnamed official from the OEM, the numbers are nearly the same or slightly lower than the pre-orders for last year's Galaxy S8. However, the company is facing tough competition from China-based Xioami which took the top spot in the later quarters.

"We will continuously invest and expand our reach not just on the channels' part but also on expanding the after-sales service network", Warsi said.

Samsung Electronics Co. said Friday it will release its latest Galaxy S9 smartphones in India next week, concurrently with releases in other major markets.

The Galaxy S9 has a 5.8-inch display while its big brother has a 6.2-inch screen.

Samsung designed the Galaxy S9 cameras to automatically adjust from aperture f/1.5 to f/2.4 depending on the subject and the environment's lighting conditions. On the front, there's an 8MP camera for taking selfies.

While the benchmark listing lacks information regarding the smartphone's camera features, the Samsung Galaxy J8 2018's Exynos processor is said to be capable of supporting a dual-lens camera setup.
