Former Titans RB DeMarco Murray has meeting with Lions

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the news.

Before former Titans' RB DeMarco Murray arrives in Detroit later today, former Panthers' RB Jonathan Stewart is scheduled to visit first today with the Lions, per source.

It's no secret that the Lions have struggled mightily at the running back position for the last handful of years. The gap between Detroit and the next lowest rushing total in the league was 145 yards.

Both running backs are on the wrong side of 30, and likely looking to Detroit as their last chance at winning a starting role.

Stewart was released by the Panthers after 10 seasons with Carolina.

Ameer Abdullah led the team in rushing, with a mere 552 yards on the ground last season. Last season, he rushed for 680 yards and six touchdowns. He also caught 39 passes for 266 yards.

Murray, 30, was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys back in 2011 before being traded to Philadelphia and then signing with the Titans in 2016.

The Lions ranked as or among the worst rushing teams in football last season.
