Dulquer Salmaan, Sonam Kapoor get ready for Zoya Factor adaptation

Sonam Kapoor announced the release date on social media along with the first look of the film.

It was apparently Dulquer's role in the Mani Ratnam film OK Kanmani which convinced Abhishek to cast him in The Zoya Factor.

After all the wait, Sonam Kapoor finally made an official announcement about her next with South superstar Dulquer Salmaan. Meanwhile, the players learn that Zoya was born at the moment the Indian team won its first World Cup in 1983.

He wrote, "Now this one is really special for me!" She tweeted, "Super happy to be a part of this unique story #ZoyaFactor an adaptation of Anuja Chauhan's bestseller". Dulquer Salmaan, who has prominently worked in Malayalam movies only will have a great opportunity to make an impact with a high profile project like this. Slated to release on 5th April 2019, the film will go on floors this August. Co-starring Sonam Kapoor, directed by Abhishek Sharma!

Anuja Chauhan, who is the author of famous novels like "Those Pricey Thakur Girls" and "Battle for Bittora", will be writing the dialogues for the movie.

Released in 2008, the wildly popular novel is the story of Zoya Singh Solanki, an advertising executive, who ends up being the "lucky charm" for the Indian cricket team.

"Cricket (is) woven into a rom-com and touching on superstition and luck, its an incredible book for a screen adaptation".

According to Abhishek, "I knew immediately that this was the boy we were looking for".

Dulquer shared the news on Facebook, with the release date, April 5 next year.

Set in the backdrop of India's second World Cup in 2011, the film will be extensively shot in Mumbai, contrary to the book which is set in Delhi. Eventually, Zoya falls for skipper Nikhil Khoda who doesn't believe in luck and superstitions.
