Decision to drop me surprising, shocking: Drabu

Even as I was waiting for it, it was reported on the website of the daily Greater Kashmir that the CM had made a decision to drop me from the council of ministers and had written to the Governor to this effect. "I stand informed by the media first as a speculation, then as a fact", Drabu said.

"While I understand and accept the decision of the Party, to take to media before talking to me, was painful". The party (PDP) saw that this is an issue.

A day after retaining the portfolios of Finance, Labour & Employment departments, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday assigned them to Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari in addition to education department already held by him.

The PDP leadership was apparently annoyed with Drabu for dismissing the political nature of the Kashmir issue although he himself had in the agenda of alliance got the clause inserted for political resolution of the problem by holding dialogue with all stake holders including the separatists who have been making anti-India statements and maligning the Indian Army and security forces. "I finally got a call to meet the CM at 7.15 pm", he said.

"Nor does it dent its image".

Giving details of events preceding his exit, Mr Drabu said he received a letter from AR Veeri, chairman of PDP's disciplinary committee, seeking an explanation about his statement which 'caused a serious dent to the image of the party'. "I will also look into increasing liabilities of departments" he said.

Drabu revealed that chief minister Mehbooba Mufti had even refused to take his call. "All political parties in the state criticised his remarks". "Every single meeting, discussion and negotiations were done with the knowledge and consent of the patron and the president".

The ousted leader is reported to have said that Kashmir was not a political but a social issue.
