Cristiano Ronaldo nets two scores, Real Madrid beats Eibar

Real Madrid has closed the gap on second-placed Atletico Madrid with a hard-fought 2-1 win in Saturday's La Liga clash at Eibar. Eibar's Ivan Ramis had equalised in between to give the home side hope.

His double means Ronaldo has now scored in seven consecutive games and has a remarkable 13 goals overall in that period.

Ronaldo has made 34 appearances across all competitions for the Madrid side so far this season, scoring 33 goals and assisting five further strikes.

Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane sent on Karim Benzema and Lucas Vazquez to look for the victor.

Ronaldo put Madrid ahead in the 34th minute after Luka Modric intercepted a loose ball from Eibar centre- back Aritz Arbilla and placed a ideal pass for the Portugal forward to control with his chest and fire in past Dmitrovic. Chelsea will be very hard, and the fans know we have to be together. His stats speak for him. If he scores twice then he wants a third goal.

FC Barcelona and Real Madrid have already made their interest known whereas the two Premier League giants are the latest to enter the ring.

Raphael Varane had to be replaced by Nacho after taking a bang to the head and, against the run of play, Real edged ahead in the 33rd minute.

Valencia is on course to lock up a top-four finish and Champions League berth after winning 2-0 at Sevilla, its nearest rival for fourth place.

When asked about the possibility of a 400-million-euro player, Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane didn't slam the idea.

Opting for the surgery on the basis that it would allow him to partake in Brazil's World Cup campaign without hindrance, reports in Spain's Sport are now suggesting that the Brazilian will not play for PSG again. We did not find our game, we had many difficulties.

"We know that this pitch is very complicated".
