Bluepoint Confirms That It Is Working On Another Remake

Bluepoint Games has confirmed that work at the studio has begun on another remake, following the release of Shadow of the Colossus last month. "So now our next step is, let's improve the art pipeline, let's improve the engine, let's improve workflow for artists, let's grow on the art side some more to handle our next project because it's a bit bigger", said Thrush. "And our next focus is, all right, let's work on design and add new stuff to get to the next remake, because now that can be our sole focus".

The site asked if Bluepoint might make an original game of its own, and Thrush responded by confirming that's not going to happen-not yet.

Bluepoint said that working on Shadow of the Colossus helped the company grow in both numbers and in skills, and it is still growing. The developer stole the show at Sony's E3 show previous year when the Shadow of the Colossus remake was revealed.

Thrush wouldn't budge when prompted for a hint as to what they're remaking next, though he did say that Bluepoint is excited and thinks fans will be too once they're ready to share details. So instead of taking on an original title, they shall be working on another remake that is even bigger than Shadow of Colossus. It not only completely overhauls the visuals for the game but tries to expand and improve on the gameplay from this cult classic.

Want to take a guess at what Bluepoint is working on? One of the clues is that Sony shut down the game's servers shortly after its ninth anniversary without any explanation. However, some people believe that they have already identified the next game that will be receiving the remake treatment from Bluepoint. In a new interview, the team behind Shadow of Colossus answered some questions about "whether the expanded art team brought on for the project would be deployed next on an original game". Some folks have thrown out Demon's Souls (which was published by Sony in Japan) as a possibility. But again, take all of this with a grain of salt.

The task of remaking Shadow of the Colossus was a huge one for Bluepoint, which needed to expand its art team to fulfill its obligations for the project.
