Allen Robinson reportedly will sign with Bears

That includes Bears fans, who are craving a new cast of talented receivers, and Robinson addressed Chicago as a potential destination Monday when he was a guest on SiriusXM's Mad Dog Sports Radio with host Adam Schein.

One of the major bombs of free agency dropped while you were sleeping last night as the Chicago Bears landed former Jaguars receiver Allen Robinson, striking a three-year deal worth reportedly $42 million. Robinson told the Florida Times-Union that he'll be ready well ahead of training camp, which is good when considering he'll need as many reps as possible with his new quarterback Mitchell Trubiski. However, he has proven talent with more than 2,200 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns from 2015-16.

With former Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy replacing John Fox as head coach and the signing of Robinson, the Bears will hope for a significant upturn in production from an offense that finished 30th in the National Football League last season. In 2015, Robinson caught 80 passes for 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns, putting him in the Pro Bowl.

As a rookie out of Penn State in 2014, Robinson had 48 catches for 548 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games before a season-ending foot injury.

The 25-year-old is coming off a torn ACL suffered in the third preseason game this past season. They offered an original-round tender to restricted free agent Cameron Meredith on Monday, and it remains a position they should address in the draft.

The Bears certainly aren't done adding at receiver.

Aside from Akiem Hicks, Pace's free-agent signings leave much to be desired. But the expectations will be high considering his contract and potential.

Bottom line, you don't bring in a player like Robinson to be a decoy.
