Women arrested after running on field during Belk Bowl

Wake Forest quarterback John Wolford's final in high school game was a 10-touchdown performance, but ultimately a heartbreaking 74-73 loss.

The Demon Deacons finished the season with a record of 8-5 thanks to Friday's victory, while the Aggies fell to 7-6.

The Aggies blocked - i.e., they belked - two Demon Deacon punt attempts in the first three-and-a-half minutes of the game. He finishes the season as the team's leading rusher with 904 yards and second on the team with seven touchdowns.

While Wake was the victim of two blocked punts and a blocked field goal in the game, it managed to make a positive play on special teams when Jessie Bates III took a punt back 59 yards for a touchdown. Nick Starkel then answered with a 52-yard touchdown pass to Christian Kirk, then there was a 37-yard pass from Wolford to star tight end Cam Serigne, and before halftime hit, the game was already at the over-under total set by Las Vegas oddsmakers.

The second came with 18 seconds remaining in the half and cut the deficit to 38-28 entering the locker room.

But Texas A&M battled back to take the lead late in the third quarter.

Kirk was once again the beneficiary of a nine-yard touchdown catch to shrink the Wake Forest advantage to just three points.

Texas A&M: You would have to think Kirk will think strongly about heading to the National Football League after a terrific bowl game.

The Aggies took a 42-41 lead on a 1-yard Keith Ford run with just under two minutes remaining in the third quarter.

But nine players could return on offense, including running back Matt Colburn (21 rushes for 150 yards and a score), wideouts Scotty Washington (nine catches for 138 yards and a TD), Alex Bachman (five catches for 84 yards) and Tabari Hines (eight catches for 58 yards) and the entire offensive line. He did just that, throwing for 400 yards and four touchdowns and rushing for another 68yards. Texas A&M was able to pry former Florida State Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher away from Tallahassee, but he won't coach in this game. It was also the Aggies' first ever appearance in the Belk Bowl since joining the SEC's bowl rotation in 2012.
