LG Unveils New 'Gram' Laptops Ahead Of CES 2018

LG Unveils New 'Gram' Laptops Ahead Of CES 2018

LG is introducing three refreshed versions of the Gram, in 13.3-, 14-, and 15-inch models. It's the same test LG runs its phones through which are pretty durable to begin with, so the new Gram laptops should also withstand things better when compared to competitors' offerings.

LG touts the laptops can now boot in under 10 seconds and users can expect 40% more efficiency while performing tasks.

LG has announced its updating its Gram lineup of laptops ahead of a formal introduction next month during CES 2018. And the compact design allows the LG gram's smaller form factor to feature wider screens. They passed seven US military MIL-STD 810G durability tests, meaning they should withstand "extreme environments" and the torturous actions of kids. Apparently you'll be able to buy one of the lightweight laptops with an eighth-generation Core i5 or i7 processor and one or two SSDs inside. The webcam is positioned on top of the display where it should be for flattering video calls and DTS Headphone X provides multi-channel sound of up to 11.1 channels for rich 1.5W hi-fi surround sound.

Other features of the Gram line up includes a Thunderbolt 3 port for connecting to high-speed external drives and 4K monitors, an improved touchscreen, and a fingerprint scanner built into the power button for speedy user authentication. That's still a lot lighter than most Windows laptops today. Visitors to CES can see the new features of the 2018 LG gram for themselves at booth #11100 in Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

LGs latest gram laptops will be available in the USA market starting next month with other markets to follow soon thereafter. "Perhaps because of that, the Gram laptops are indeed very light: "2.1 lb (0.96 kg) for the 13.3" model, 2.2 lb (1 kg) for the 14" model, and 2.4 lb for the 15.6" model (just 1.09 kg).
