SARS Personnel Attached to Rotimi Amechi Attack Gov. Wike's Convoy

Both men have in the past two years been at loggerheads over who should be in control of the politics of the state ever since Wike won the governorship election in 2015, to the chagrin of Amaechi.

According to the account by the Spokesman to the governor, Simeon Nwakaudu, the governor was on project inspection in the state, when SARs personnel and soldiers in the minister's convoy hit the governor's escort rider and attacked the policemen in the pilot auto. One of the two cars conveyed security men assigned to protect the minister in Port Harcourt.

According to report that was made available by Simeon Nwakaudu, who is the Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor, Electronic Media, the incident took place at Nwanja Junction on Trans-Amadi Road.

Peoples Democratic Party PDP stalwart Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has decried assassination attempt on Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of Rivers state, saying that President Muhammadu Buhari should should call his mad dog to order.

The statement read: "The SARs Personnel and Soldiers in the Minister's convoy hit down the Governor's Escort Rider and attacked the policemen in the pilot auto". Akin Fakorede and supervised by Amaechi's ADC, Mr. Debewari.

"Since he became governor, Wike spends most of his time making reckless, deeply irresponsible, malicious, false allegations against Amaechi, as he attempts, albeit fruitlessly, to malign and destroy the outstandingly superb performance and legacy of Amaechi in Rivers State".

"However, when governor Wike got to the point where the incident occurred after Amaechi's vehicle had gone by, his security men blocked the road again, dragged out from a vehicle and thoroughly beat up a policeman attached to protect Amaechi in Port Harcourt".

IT was a horrifying scene yesterday afternoon in Port Harcourt, as policemen attached to Governor Nyesom Wike and that of the Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, clashed. The vehicle was vandalized with a broken side mirror", the statement said."The statement went on: "The incident occurred in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, along Trans-Amadi road, Nwaja axis". All through this attack, Amaechi remained calm, inside the fortified Jeep.

But Mr. Amaechi denied the claims, saying that "gun-totting security men attached to Wike's convoy" surrounded Mr. Amaechi's auto, threatening to shoot him. Wike also stayed inside his vehicle. "Suddenly, gun-toting security men attached to Wike's convoy, surrounded the minister's auto, threatening to shoot him".

"We are also calling on the International Community to take note of these chain of activity that is carefully planned by the (APC) and being executed by the Minister of Transport".

Franklyn says that a Bulletproof vehicle personally used by Amaechi knocked down one of Wike's Outriders and he sustained serious injuries.

In the meantime, Ikwerre youths have condemned what they called the attack on Amaechi and the policemen in his convoy.

Amaechi in the statement published by the Vanguard stressed that Wike must go to court to prove his claims that the money found in the Ikoyi apartment was stolen by the transport minister or tender a public apology.
