IN teacher caught allegedly using cocaine in classroom

Samantha Cox was captured a week ago at Lake Central High School in St. John after understudies told the essential that the instructor was utilizing drugs in her classroom. Cox is being held on charges of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, according to St. John police.

The 24-year-early English educator told specialists that she acquired $160 worth of medications before school last Wednesday, as per the Chicago Tribune.

School authorities alerted the St. John Police Department and on November 22 they searched Cox's classroom and her vehicle that was also on school property.

School officials soon saw the video and called police, who sent in a K-9 narcotics unit from the nearby town of Dyer, according to ABC Chicago.

"Lake Central has provided parent information sessions for the past two years; in addition, through various formats LC has provided our students an awareness of challenges that they might encounter".

The young instructor was arrested after students secretly filmed her cutting up the white, powdery substance on a binder while sitting alone in the classroom.

Cox said she normally buys the drugs after school, but "was feeling sick and needed to get some".

Police brought in a search dog which found more cocaine in the drawer of Cox's desk.

Police also found a glass pipe in the glove box of Cox's auto.

Online records appear to show she made the Dean's List multiple times as a student at Purdue University Northwest in Hammond.

"She was well known with the understudies", Lake Central schools Superintendent Larry Veracco told the outlet.

Cox was released from a Lake County jail after posting a $10,000 bond, according NWITimes.com.
