The Dodgers Sweep The Diamondbacks And Are Headed To The NLCS

The Dodgers finished off a sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks in the divisional series to advance to the NLCS for the third time in the last five years.

This occasion Los Angeles clinches a spot in the National League Championship Series.

The Dodgers will either face the Cubs or the Nationals in the NLCS, with game four of their series coming on Tuesday.

The Diamondbacks' first-year manager, Torey Lovullo, expressed confidence that Greinke, his ace pitcher, would keep the series alive on Monday.

Darvish has had a spectacular upturn in form over recent weeks, and in his final three starts of the season he allowed just two total runs, with just one earned run, and 21 strikeouts and one walk across 17 1/3 innings.

Cody Bellinger, a local Arizona product, had a night to remember in front of his friends and family.

The next inning, Dodgers catcher Austin Barnes added an insurance run by sending a solo homer to left field, and solid bullpen pitching closed out the series victory for Los Angeles.

The Dodgers lead 2-0 and can eliminate the Diamondbacks when the National League Division Series moves to Phoenix on Monday.

Bellinger also had a couple of key defensive plays, traveling 92-feet to catch a ball in foul territory, landing in the dugout.

With the Dodgers leading 2-0, Daniel Descalso would come up in the bottom of the 5th and get one back for Arizona. Turner went 1 for 4 in Game 2 and popped out with the bases loaded to end the seventh, but the Dodgers didn't even need their slugging third baseman. Darvish gave up two hits and no walks.

Ray had been outstanding in five regular-season starts against the Dodgers, but he struggled mightily with his control from the first inning.
